Primary Benefits of Dental Implants

Dental implants can last a lifetime. However, it is essential to practice good hygiene and attend regular dental visits as your restoration will eventually need to be replaced.

Superior Function & Aesthetics

Once your implants have fused with the jawbone, they are essentially part of your anatomy. Additionally, your restoration will look and function like your real teeth.

Protect Your Oral Health

Without stimulation from natural teeth, bone health can suffer and cause further tooth loss. By replacing the tooth from root to crown, implant-supported restorations can prevent bone resorption

Tooth Loss Is Very Common

After age 65, the average adult has lost more than 13 teeth.

However, the restorative treatment is not right for every patient...

Are You Ready to Invest in The Gold Standard for Tooth Replacement

Dental implants are not typically covered by insurance. However, while traditional restorations are more affordable upfront, they do not provide the long-term benefits of dental implants. An implant-supported restoration is an investment in your oral health, often preventing the need for additional and costly dental work. Additionally, to help cover out-of-pocket expenses, our team in Rogers can help you coordinate financing plans.

What does the dental implant process entail?

What to ExpectThroughout Treatment

Every treatment plan is unique, but you can generally expect distinct stages spanning several months.

Dr. van Zyl will conduct an in-depth evaluation to determine whether you are a candidate for dental implants.

First Surgery

The dental implants will be surgically placed into the jawbone. You may receive a temporary restoration.

Healing Period

You will need to heal for about three to six months so that the implants can fully fuse with the jawbone.

Receive Abutments

You will undergo a second procedure to attach the abutments, which connect the implants to the restoration.

Attach Permanent Restoration

After the gums have healed, your custom crown, bridge, or denture will be attached to complete your smile.

Dental Implants

Ozark Comprehensive Dentistry in Rogers offers dental implants to patients with missing or severely damaged teeth. Dr. Van Zyl considers dental implants to be the "Cadillac" of dentistry, as they are the best tooth replacement solution available. Not everyone is a good candidate for dental implants, but a consultation with Dr. Van Zyl at his practice will help patients determine the best tooth replacement method for their needs.

Planning Your Implant Procedure

An implant is a titanium post that functions as the tooth root, which exists within the jaw, below the gums, and holds the tooth in place. Before beginning any treatment, Dr. van Zyl will meet with you for a consultation to determine whether dental implants are the right course of treatment for you. He will take X-rays, create impressions, and examine your teeth and gums to make sure the jawbone and gum tissue are sufficient.

During your consultation, Dr. van Zyl will establish where the implant will be placed, as well as the type of implant and restoration to use.

Risks or Side Effects of Dental Implants

As with all surgeries, some risk is associated with the dental implant placement procedure, such as infection. With a highly qualified oral surgeon such as Dr. van Zyl, the chances of complications occurring are extremely low. Dr. van Zyl will inform you of any potential risks, and the best way to care for implants to avoid any such issues.

Immediately after the surgery, patients typically experience some swelling, bruising, or discomfort. Symptoms should subside after several days and can be alleviated with pain medication.
