Restore Your Smile

Close the Gap

Your custom-made dental bridge will close the gap between your teeth, restoring your ability to chew and speak normally. Additionally, you can feel confident with a complete smile.

Prevent Misalignment

Without treatment, the surrounding teeth on either side of the gap will begin to shift. This can lead to significant misalignment. Replacing a lost tooth keeps your remaining teeth in place.

Stabilize with Dental Implants

You can combine your bridge with one or more dental implants, providing stability and preventing jawbone resorption. Additionally, you will not need to alter surrounding teeth to secure the bridge.

The Rogers, AR, practice of Dr. Ettienne Van Zyl offers dental crowns and bridges to patients looking for restorative dentistry solutions. Dental crowns are shells placed over a tooth when there is already too much damage for a traditional filling. Dental bridges are artificial teeth replacements that can be used to replace missing teeth by utilizing the neighboring teeth as anchors. Both crowns and bridges are commonly made of porcelain and both can be secured over dental implants.

What Is a Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge, often referred to as a partial denture, is composed of a set of replacement teeth fused together to fill in gaps in your smile. Bridges may be supported with a dental implant or using traditional methods. If you choose to secure your bridge with dental implants, titanium posts are first surgically placed in the jawbone. When healing is complete after several months, the bridge is then attached to the top of the implants. A traditional bridge is held in place by two crowns that are attached to the teeth on either side of the gap in your smile. Once the restoration is placed, the prosthetic teeth that are fused to the crowns literally bridge the gap to complete your smile.

Oral Health Advantages

The structure and alignment of your bite is compromised when a tooth is lost or extracted. Missing teeth can lead to a number of dental issues, such as teeth shifting, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder, and jawbone loss. A dental bridge can restore comfort and function to your bite, and also avoid compounding oral health problems.

Aesthetic Benefits

The health of your teeth and jawbone have a substantial impact on your appearance. When you are missing teeth for an extended period of time, cheeks can become sunken in and the lips can pucker. A dental bridge can prevent these problems by maintaining your facial volume and helping you look younger and healthier. Additionally, Dr. van Zyl’s bridges are carefully fabricated to match the color and shape of your natural teeth. You can rest assured that your restoration will blend in seamlessly with your existing teeth for an attractive, complete smile.

Dental Bridge Candidates

The vast majority of patients are candidates for traditional dental bridges or implant-retained bridges. With either of these methods, any underlying oral health problems, such as gum disease, will first need to be resolved. Some patients with insufficient jawbone density may require a bone graft before they can receive an implant-supported bridge. Alternatively, traditional bridges are often a great option for patients who do not want to undergo surgery and are looking to quickly replace their missing teeth.
